Please note: Although the address for this clinic is LA Fitness, 55 King Street, the entrance is actually at the junction of Marsden St and Cheapside, just up from Grinch Bar.

nicola shaw city physio manchesterNicola Shaw graduated from the University of Manchester in 1996 with a Honours degree in Physiotherapy. Since then Nicola's career has progressed primarily through the NHS working in Liverpool, Sheffield and Stockport.

Nicola is currently approaching the end of an MSc in Manual Therapy and has recently taken final exams to gain membership of the Manipulative Association of Manual Therapists.

Nicola trained in her NHS posts to become a specialist in dealing with difficult spinal conditions (called an extended scope practitioner) and she also has a special interest in sport-related injuries.

In 2005 Nicola completed the Manchester 10K run in 58 minutes and is now in training for the Great North Run.

City Physio at GL 14 Health Club, Oxford Road, Manchester

Bob Johnson
Bob Graduated with a Bsc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree from Manchester University in 2002. He worked for three years in the NHS at Oldham and Bolton Royal Hospitals. He also worked Privately on a part time basis. In 2005 he moved to a large private Healthcare company working accross the Northwest treating Sports injuries and Back pain. He also carried out post operative rehab, return to work fitness assessments, Biomechanical assessments and acupuncture.

Bob now specialises in the use of core stability training to work in unison with conventional physiotherapy techniques aiming to not only ease symptoms but to prevent injury in the future.

City Physio at Doctorcall Manchester, Kings Court, Manchester

angela hickman, physiotherapist at gl14, manchesterNick Syrett graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 1997 with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree. He has since taken up clinical NHS and Senior clinical NHS positions in Yorkshire and the North West, whilst simultaneously working in private practice positions.

Married in 2001, the happy couple embarked on a long honeymoon around the world. This took them to New Zealand where further clinical and sports team experience was gained in a busy Sports Injury Clinic.

Nick has worked with a wide variety of Rugby League, Union and football teams. He is himself a keen sportsman. Participating in football, squash and golf on a regular basis.

A specialist in musculoskeletal disorders (muscle and joint pain), Nick took over the post at GL-14 Health Club in early 2004. He has a special interest in biomechanics; assessing and correcting faults through structural changes and strengthening the body’s core musculature.
